Troubleshooting Audio Playback Issues in Amplify Screening
If you're seeing an "Audio playback disabled" message when trying to complete your Amplify Screening, your browser or computer may be blocking microphone access. Don’t worry, this is usually easy to fix!
Below are step-by-step instructions to help you resolve this issue based on your system and browser setup.
System-Level Microphone Access (Windows & Mac)
Even if your browser is set to allow microphone access, your operating system might still be blocking it. Here's how to check and update those settings:
On Windows 10/11:
-
Open Settings.
-
Go to Privacy > Microphone.
-
Make sure Allow apps to access your microphone is turned ON.
-
Scroll down and make sure access is enabled for your browser (e.g., Chrome or Firefox).
On macOS:
-
Open System Settings.
-
Go to Privacy & Security > Microphone.
-
Ensure your browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.) is checked to allow microphone access.
Browser-Level Fixes
If microphone access is enabled at the system level but you’re still seeing issues, your browser settings or extensions may be interfering.
Chrome:
-
Extensions like Disable HTML5 Autoplay or privacy tools may block microphone use.
-
Try disabling those extensions temporarily and refreshing the page.
Firefox:
-
In the address bar, type: about:config.
-
Search for: media.navigator.enabled.
-
Set it to True.
