Marking a Billable Charge as Ready to Bill
Overview
When you are ready to generate invoices based on your Billable Charges, those charges will need to be put in the "Ready to Bill" status. This article covers how to mark invoices in the "Not Ready to Bill" and "Needs Review" as "Ready to Bill."
Note: These instructions refer to the default terms related to Billable Charges and may vary from how your system was configured.
Before You Begin
Action Entitlements
You must have the appropriate action entitlements in order to create or edit Billable Charges. Please contact Bullhorn Support to review and adjust your action entitlements.
When is a Billable Charge Ready to Bill?
A Billable Charge becomes Ready to Bill in the following ways:
- Manually-entered Billable Charges are set to Ready to Bill by default.
- Billable Charges in the Invoicing status become "Ready to Bill" when an Invoice Statement is deleted prior to finalization.
- This will also mark the original transaction as "Ready to Bill."
- Billable Charges in the Needs Review status become "Ready to Bill" when a user marks them as ready to bill.
- Billable Charges in the Not Ready to Bill status become "Ready to Bill" when a user marks them as ready to bill.
Steps
- Navigate to the Billable Charges list.

Locate the billable charge you would like to mark as ready.
- Only billable charges in Needs Review or Not Ready to Bill are eligible.
- You can use the Status filter to narrow your selection.
- Open the desired billable charge by selecting .
- With the billable charge slideout open, select Actions > Mark as Ready.
- If prompted, in the Override Bill Status? popup, provide an Override Reason and select Override.
- The billable charge will now appear in the Billable Charges list as "Ready to Bill."
