Steps for Adding New Custom Fields to Job Templates

Make the fields available for adding to Templates

  1. Field data types need to match. Job Order and Job Template fields need to match for data field types. On this line of thinking, the fields need to be available on BOTH objects.

  2. You'll need to add any new fields into the Job Template Field Set.

  3. Edit the Job Template Mapping record and use the picklist to map the correct fields.

Add the Fields to the Object that the template references

  1. Create the new field on the Job Order, Job Template, and Job Template Mapping.
    Navigate to Setup > Create > Object.
    You will need to create the fields up the same regarding field types and values if it will be a pick list.

  2. Add the new field to the Job Order Page Layouts where desired.
    Go to Setup > Create > Object > Job Orders > Page Layouts.

  3. Update the Job Template Mapping.
    ​Proceed to All Tabs > Job Template Mapping.

    • Use the New Mapping Item and complete the setup wizard for this new 'Keyword' field.

  4. Update the individual Job Templates with the desired information to auto populate when the new job order is created.
    Navigate to All Tabs > Job Templates.
