Salary Allocation

Overview

Use Salary Allocation to define the weekly distribution of salary hours by department for each employee.

Before You Begin

Salary Allocation requires additional configuration by Bullhorn Time & Expense. If you need to set salary details but your agency is not configured to allow this, please contact Bullhorn Time & Expense Support.

Depending on your agency setup and configuration, these options may be set automatically based on your front office system or set manually by an administrator in Bullhorn Time & Expense.

Steps

  1. After logging into Bullhorn Time & Expense select a branch/group.
  2. Open the Maintenance drop down menu and select Employee Setup.

  3. Select the employee for whom you are setting salary details.

  4. On the Main tab, review the Pay Type and Base Hours fields. Salary Allocation is available only for employees classified as Salary and with a set number of Base Hours.
    • You may not adjust Salary Allocation if Pay Type is set to Hourly or Base Hours are not set.
      • If you cannot make changes to these fields, please update the records in your front office system.

  5. Open the drop down menu and select Salary.
  6. Click Submit after making the change.

  7. In the Other section, enter the total weekly number of salary hours for the employee in the Base Hours field.
  8. Click Submit towards the top of the screen.

  9. To set salary details, select the Salary Allocation tab.

  10. To edit allocations to include an additional site or department, select Edit to the right of the department and site you want to update.
    • By default, 100% of the available salary hours will be allocated to the employee's primary site and department.

  11. Enter either the number of weekly hours or the percentage of hours that should be allocated to the selected site and department in the fields provided.
  12. When you are done with adjusting salary allocations, select Edit Hours to continue.
    • Bullhorn Time & Expense will automatically update the blank field value based on the field you enter.
  13. Take a moment to review the updated allocations. If everything looks correct, touch Submit at the top of the screen.
    • If you need to make additional allocations, select EDIT for the site and department you need to adjust.

The Allocation Table will display audit details for the date of the last update as well as the name of the last person to update the allocation. The Salary Allocation tab will display the employee's updated salary details.
