Understanding Your Candidate's AI Screening Score

This article explains the default logic the Amplify Screener uses to calculate a candidate's screening score.

In addition to this default scoring, you can also add custom scoring instructions to fine-tune how the AI evaluates candidates. See Amplify Screener Custom Scoring to learn more.

How the Amplify Screener Evaluate Candidates

The Amplify AI Screener uses a consistent, objective process to assess each candidate. It reviews the candidate's interview responses, their Bullhorn profile (including their resume), and any configured knockout questions to create a fair, data-driven evaluation aligned to the requirements of the role.

How the Score is Created:

  • Job-Specific Knowledge and Skills: The screener evaluates how well the candidate’s interview responses demonstrate relevant technical knowledge and experience. This measures how closely their skills align with the requirements of the role.

  • Leadership and Teamwork (if applicable): For roles that require collaboration or leadership, the screener assesses how the candidate describes working with others, leading teams, or managing challenges.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: The screener reviews how the candidate approaches situational or problem-solving questions to assess their critical thinking, reasoning, and decision-making ability.

The Evaluation Steps:

  • Bullhorn Profile and Resume Review: The screener analyzes information from the candidate’s profile and résumé to understand their experience and background, verifying how it supports their interview responses.

  • Chat Screening (“Knockout”) Questions: If your screening configuration includes chat-based knockout questions (such as work authorization, essential qualifications, or availability), the screener incorporates these responses into the overall score.

  • Interview Responses: The screener evaluates the quality and completeness of each interview response, focusing on clarity, relevance, and alignment with the position’s requirements. Responses that demonstrate strong understanding and detailed insight receive higher scores.

The Final Score:

All these factors are combined into a single score between 0 and 100. This score gives you an overall picture of how well the candidate fits the role based on the areas discussed.

This consistent and objective approach means every candidate is assessed in the same way, giving you reliable insights to help you make the best hiring decisions.
