Managing Screening Questions in Bullhorn ATS
This article will show you how to manage screening questions for the Amplify Screener in Bullhorn ATS using the Screener Questions tab on a Job record. From this tab, you can view, add, edit, reorder, and remove the questions that Amplify Screen uses when evaluating candidates for a specific job.
Because we’re in the process of migrating customers to a new version of this tab, there are currently two different versions in use. This article will help you quickly identify which version your system has and walk you through how to use it.
Which Version of the Tab Do I Have?
Before you begin, make sure you’re following the right instructions for your setup. Amplify Screen originally used a Screening Questions custom object, and newer customers are now using a standard Screener Questions tab built directly into the ATS.
You can determine which one you have using the guide below:
Standard Screener Questions Tab (New)

The Add Screener Question button appears at the bottom of the tab, only when you’re in Edit mode

Viewing Screening Questions
To see a job’s screening questions:

Open a Job in Bullhorn ATS.

Click the Screener Questions tab (label may vary depending on your configuration).
Managing Screening Questions

To make any updates, click Edit in the top-right corner.

This switches the tab into Edit Mode, where you can add, update, delete, or reorder questions.

When you’re done, click Done to save.
Add Questions
In Edit Mode:

Click Add Screener Question.

Enter the details:

Question Text: What the candidate will be asked

Sort Order: The order in which questions appear during the screening

Comments: Optional notes visible only to your internal team. Candidates will not see these during the screening.

Click Save.
Reorder Questions
Reordering questions on this tab will determine the order candidates will be asked these questions during screening.
To change the question order:

Hover your cursor over the left side of the Sort Order column.

You’ll see Up and Down arrows appear. Use these to move questions into your preferred order.
You can also amend an individual question’s sort order when adding or editing it.
Edit Questions
While in Edit mode, click the question text to open the Edit window. You can update the question, change the sort order, or adjust internal comments.
Delete Questions
While in Edit Mode, click the red trash can next to a question. You’ll be asked to confirm before it’s deleted.
Bullhorn Automation can generate screening questions automatically using the Add Questions Step. We recommend using Automation to create your initial list of questions and then manually reviewing them afterward, making any edits you need before candidates begin screening.
Important Notes About Screening Questions

All questions on the Screening Questions tab will be asked to the candidate, and always in the order they are listed.
If you want the Screener to ask questions in a specific sequence, make sure to update the sort order.

If your automation is configured to regenerate screening questions, all existing questions on the job will be removed and replaced with the regenerated set.
This includes manually added questions. This behavior prevents duplicate questions and applies to both the Standard Screener Questions tab and the legacy Screening Questions custom object.

Viewing Screening Questions
To see a job's screening questions:
Access to the Screening Questions tab is determined by department permissions, not user permissions.
If screening questions have been generated for the job, they will be listed here. You can choose between two display options using the Vertical/Horizontal toggle in the top corner:

Vertical View: Displays all questions in a list for quick review.

Horizontal View: Shows a more condensed list with filtering options, ideal for managing larger sets of questions.

Managing Screening Questions
Add Questions

Click the Add Screening Questions button in the top-right corner of the tab.

Enter your question and select a category, then click Save.

Edit and Delete Questions

Vertical View: Click the Edit or Delete icons to the right of the question.

Horizontal View: Open the Actions dropdown choose the desired option.
