Distinguishing Between V1 and V2
The easiest way to distinguish between Credentialing V1 and V2, is to look at the Credentialing tab itself.
Credentialing V2 shows a drop-down in the top right hand corner that includes Candidate Credential Requirements, Placement Credential Requirements, and other such options. These are not present for Credentialing V1.
Credentialing in Bullhorn is a powerful feature that helps ensure candidates meet the necessary qualifications for their roles. How you interact with this feature depends on your role within the organization.
User Role | Action |
---|---|
Admin | Control who can view, add, edit, or delete credentials and requirements. This ensures users only have access appropriate for their role. |
Recruiter | View job credential requirements to quickly and efficiently match qualified candidates. |

Candidate | With the Talent Platform integration, candidates can upload, update, and view their credentials on-demand. |
Determining What Credentials Are Needed
The first step in credentialing is identifying which credentials need to be tracked. This depends on the types of jobs your agency typically handles and the qualifications required for those positions. Examples of credentials might include certificates, driver's licenses, or completed forms.
Credential Requirements and Credential Requirement Groups
Once you’ve identified the necessary credentials, you can categorize them as Credential Requirements. Credential Requirements are essential qualifications that a candidate must have to be considered for a placement. These requirements can also determine whether a candidate is allowed to apply for a job.
For ease of management, Credential Requirements that frequently appear together can be grouped into Credential Requirement Groups. This allows you to assign these requirements more efficiently across multiple jobs.
Assigning Credential Requirements to Records
Credential Requirements can be assigned to various records at different stages in the recruitment process. In Bullhorn's Credentialing V2, these records include:
- Companies: Apply the same Credential Requirements to all jobs within a company, automatically inheriting these requirements for any job, internal submission, or placement created under that company.
- Jobs: Credential Requirements assigned here automatically apply to all internal submissions for that job.
- Placements: Assign and verify credentials once a candidate has been placed.
- Candidates: Ensure that candidates meet certain requirements before being submitted for a form, such as an intake form. This is particularly useful if your agency has certifications required across all candidates.
Filling in Credential Requirements
After assigning Credential Requirements to the relevant entities, the next step is to fill them in:
-
Add the Credentials: Depending on your workflow, some credentials may be requested from candidates immediately, such as those tied to Candidate Credential Requirements. Others might be requested later as needed for specific jobs. When a candidate submits their credentials, add them to their record.
-
Match the Credentials with Requirements: Once both the Credential and the Credential Requirement are set up, you can match them to ensure the Credential Requirement is fulfilled. This can be done through the following:
- Talent Platform automation to receive the file directly from the candidate.
- Dynamic Match for previously uploaded credentials.
- Manual upload of credential files.
