Enabling Differential Shift Rate Type

This is Time & Labor functionality. To have Time & Labor enabled, contact your Account Manager.

The Differential Shift Differential Rate Type allows you to meet your customer's unique invoicing needs by breaking out the base rate and the differential rate for shift workers. For example, if a customer needs to see a worker's hours split into 40 hours at a base rate and 40 hours of the shift differential, the Differential Shift Rate Type supports that configuration. Differential rates are mapped to unit-based Earn Codes.

Differential Shift Rate Type is an additional option to the existing default Combined Shift Differential functionality. For more information on default Shift Differential, see Shift Differential Overview.

Shift Differential must be enabled before completing the steps below. Contact Bullhorn Support to enable Shift Differential.

  1. In Bullhorn ATS, navigate to Field Maps.

  2. Open the Company entity.

  3. Find shiftRateTypeLookupID and un-hide it.

  4. Click Save.

You will now have the Shift Rate Type field in the following places:

  • Company Record: On the Shifts tab, the Shift Rate Type field appears as a filterable drop down at the top of Shift Definitions section, and as a column in the same section.

  • Placement Record: On the Placement Shift Sets tab, the Shift Rate Type field appears on any assigned shifts.

  • Add Shift Definition Pop-up: When adding a new Shift Definition, the Shift Rate Type must be filled out. See Shift Differential Setup for more information.
