Installing Invenias on a Mac

Overview

Installation of the Invenias Desktop application is not a supported installation path. As the Essentials web app is browser based it can be fully utilised on a MAC, alongside the O365 add-in for saving emails directly from the Outlook for MAC application.

You can install the Invenias Desktop app provided a Windows environment is created. Please see the information below on how to do this.

Note that Invenias will support Invenias on a MAC but we do not offer support for creating or maintaining the Windows environment.

Virtual Machine Overview:

The advantage of running Invenias in this mode, is that it allows a user to switch between both operating systems in real-time.

To configure Invenias using a virtual machine environment you will need to have the following software:

  • VMware Fusion 5.0.3 or Parallels 9 or higher
  • Windows 11, 10, 8.1 (64-bit or 32-bit)
  • Microsoft Office 2021*, 2019*, 2016*, 2013
  • Suitable 2 GHz Single Core or 1.6 GHz Dual Core or faster Processor**

For optimum performance in this configuration the machine must have at least 8GB of RAM, with at LEAST 4 GB configured for the virtual machine.

Boot Camp Overview:

This setup is the preferred option for machines with less than 8GB of RAM available. By configuring boot camp on a machine it creates a new partition on the Mac's HDD/SSD in a Windows compatible format, allowing a user to Install Windows on a separate partition, and then choose which operating system they want to boot into every time they restart their machine.

To configure Invenias using Boot Camp you will need to have the following software:

  • Windows 11, 10, 8.1 (64-bit or 32-bit)
  • Microsoft Office 2021*, 2019*, 2016*, 2013
  • Suitable 2 GHz Single Core or 1.6 GHz Dual Core or faster Processor**

*Invenias is compatible with the 64 bit version of Microsoft Office 2021, 2019, and 2016 only. We would recommend to install the 64 bit version (default option) as it has advantages over the 32 bit version. 64 bit apps can access more memory compared to 32 bit apps, which can result in hugely improved Invenias performance and stability.Click herefor a Microsoft guide on the differences between 32 and 64 bit office.

** ARM Based processors - Devices with ARM based processors are not compatible with the Invenias desktop app.

*** Invenias can run on a PC with only 4GB RAM, however the user experience will be hugely impacted by the shortage of physical memory. Windows and Office components alone can utilise over 3.5GB of memory, leaving little for any other application (including Invenias) to consume.
