Invenias Installation Guide

Overview

This article explains how to install the Invenias Desktop application, including where to download it from and the login flow after it has been installed.

Download the Invenias Desktop application

To download the Invenias Desktop application:

  1. Login to your company's Web App (https://<companyname>.invenias.com). If you're not sure what URL to enter, you can find it in your original welcome email.
  2. Click the Install Apps button (located top-right).
  3. Click the Download Invenias button (located under the "Invenias Desktop App for Windows" heading).

This will download the Invenias Desktop application installer to the "downloads location", specified within your Web Browser's settings.

Install the Invenias Desktop application

  1. To install the Invenias Desktop application:
  2. Close any open Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc)
  3. Open and run the Invenias installer
  4. Proceed through each step in the wizard:
    • Prompt to close Microsoft Office apps before continuing
    • Choose Destination Folder
    • Invenias Setup Complete

Invenias will now be installed on your machine, including the new Invenias Control Panel (see below). You can access Invenias when you next open Microsoft Outlook.

Invenias Control Panel

The updated Invenias Desktop application installer includes the Invenias Control Panel, which is required to support launching the Invenias Desktop application from New Outlook and Outlook Web Access (OWA) via the O365 Add-in.

The following applies to the Control Panel:

  • After installation, the Control Panel will appear as a process in your system tray alongside the Invenias Desktop application process.
  • If you are running Outlook Classic alongside the Control Panel, you will see two Invenias processes in your system tray (the Desktop application process and the Control Panel process). This is expected behavior.

The Control Panel must remain running at all times. Do not disable it on startup, as this will prevent the O365 Add-in from launching the Desktop application via New Outlook and OWA.

ARM devices: The Invenias Desktop ARM installer does not currently support launching the Desktop application via New Outlook or OWA. On ARM devices, Desktop mode via the O365 Add-in is only compatible with Outlook Classic. Full ARM support for New Outlook and OWA will be available in a future release.

Login to the Invenias Desktop application

To login to the Invenias Desktop application:

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook
  2. Click the Invenias "Login" button (located in the ribbon toolbar)
  3. Enter your company's Web App URL (https://<companyname>.invenias.com) into the Login URL field
  4. Enter your login credentials

After entering valid login credentials, Invenias will then check for updates and download the latest version of Invenias. After the download has completed, the Invenias splash screen will be displayed and once Invenias has been loaded into Microsoft Outlook, the Invenias toolbar options will appear.

If you are using New Outlook or OWA, the Invenias Desktop application can also be launched directly via the O365 Add-in once the Control Panel is running. See the Office 365 Add-in article for more information.

Install the Chrome Extension (for Parsing)

To parse content directly from the web (using the Google Chrome web browser) you can install the Invenias Chrome Extension. This enables you to very quickly add people records into your database.

Install the Invenias Mobile App

The Invenias X mobile app can be downloaded directly from the App Store by searching for "Invenias X".

You can also login to your company's Web App (https://<companyname>.invenias.com) and click the Install Apps button where there is a button that will take you to the correct link in the App Store.
