Chatter Basics

Overview

Chatter Settings

Before you start working with Chatter, customize your settings to your needs.

You can set up Chatter to send you email when someone follows you or posts to your profile or groups. Follow people and records to see updates about them in Chatter feeds on profiles, groups, the Chatter tab, topic detail pages, and on record detail pages.

Configure Chatter Email Notifications

  1. Navigate to View Profile.
  2. Go to Settings to access your Personal Information.

  3. Select the Chatter drop-down.
  4. Choose Email Notifications.
    • Email digests conveniently summarize recent activity in Chatter, so you don’t miss important information.
    • Personal digests include the updates you see in your own Chatter feed, such as updates about the people, records, and files you follow and your groups.

  5. Mark the check-box to receive emails from Chatter.
  6. Mark the check-boxes to receive additional email notifications.
  7. Choose the frequency you want to receive personal digest from Chatter.
  8. Save your changes.

Configure Chatter Feed Settings

  1. Select the Chatter drop-down.
  2. Choose My Feeds.
  3. Mark the checkbox if you want to automatically follow records that you create.
  4. Save your changes.

How to Access Chatter

  1. Click the App Launcher.
  2. Click Front Office.
  3. Use the Search Bar to search for "Chatter".
    • Search Bar function will enable you to quickly find the object

You will also find the Chatter feed on different Objects (e.g. AccountsClosed A business entity/company, ContactsClosed A contact (or client contact) is the person who the recruiter is working with at a Company. In Talent Rover a Contact can be either a Client Contact or a Candidate Contact. Both types of Contacts are stored in the same object (Contact).).

Chatter Home Page

Chatter Home Page is divided into 3 main sections:

  • The Left side of the page includes preferences and settings.
  • The middle of the page displays the full Chatter feed.
  • The right side of the page includes the Related information.

On the left side of the Chatter Homepage you can keep track of:

  • Records/people you follow
  • Bookmarked posts
  • Company Highlights
  • Groups of which you are a member

In the middle of the Chatter Homepage you can use Chatter to:

  • Write a post, attach a file or link to your post.
  • Like a comment to show appreciation, agreement, or some other positive response to the post.
  • Use the Comment field to start entering a comment on the post.
  • Share your post.

On the right side of the Chatter Homepage you can will see:

  • Branch Employees
  • Groups you are a member of
  • Files which you have uploaded
  • People following you
  • People who you follow

Follow People or Records

It is possible to follow people or records on Chatter in order to be always updated with the activities related to them.

  1. Go to the specific record you want to get updates from and select Follow.
  2. If you don’t want further updates, select Unfollow on the record page layout.
