What to do When You Have 0 Candidate Results

Overview

This article contains some easy steps to take when you don't have any results on a candidate search in SourceBreaker.

Edit your Search

Changing your search criteria may not be ideal, but it's the quickest way to get results. Simple actions such as merging keywords can give you results. This will make your criteria broader so you can search for "CSS OR Javascript" rather than "CSS AND Javascript".

It's also worth double checking what criteria is in each keyword group, as you may be able to edit your keyword group and add more variations, giving you that competitive edge against other SourceBreaker users!

Check your Credentials

If you have missing or incorrect credentials, make sure to update them to get the best results out of SourceBreaker. Some CV databases don't support certain locations, so make sure to check that out too. For more help, see CV Database Errors.

Widen your Search Location

If you're happy with your search criteria, you can try editing your search radius. By adding some extra miles, you can get more results. Try adding ten miles to your search radius and see if those results are still relevant.

CV Database Filters

You can also expand your search by opening out the active within filter, e.g. changing it from "active within 1 month" to "active within 3 months". These candidates could still be actively looking for a role, so it's worth taking a look at them!

Use SmartSearch

This is a really useful tool when you've put the 'nice to haves' into your search. For instance, it might be nice if someone was French speaking, but not essential, so you can exclude those people from your search. You can keep excluding different keywords to broaden your search criteria. See SmartSearch for more help using this feature.
