Managing Prompt Sources in Amplify
When you use a prompt in Amplify Assistant or Amplify Chat, you can control which Bullhorn data points Amplify includes when generating a response. These data points are called sources, and they determine what information is sent to the LLM
An LLM, or Large Language Model, is a deep learning model that has been pre-trained on vast amounts of data and is used to power generative AI. to shape the output. By reviewing and adjusting sources, you can refine the content Amplify produces and ensure it focuses on the details that matter most.
This article explains what sources are, which types are available, how to manage them, and when you may want to adjust them.
What Are Sources?
Sources are the specific pieces of Bullhorn data that Amplify uses to generate content. They influence the accuracy, depth, and relevance of the response by telling the LLM which information should be considered.
Available Source Types
The exact sources available for each prompt are configured in the Amplify Prompt Studio. Depending on the record type and prompt, sources may include:
-
Standard Record Fields: General fields such as name, title, skills, certifications, job description, and other core data.
-
Notes: Up to the 10 most recent notes, with the ability to filter by note type.
-
Emails: Up to the 10 most recent emails from the record’s Emails tab.
-
Submissions: Submission history and status details.
-
Placements: Placement history for the record.
Limitations
Keep the following in mind when working with sources:
-
File attachments cannot be used as sources. This includes uploaded resumes and other documents.
-
On candidate records, Amplify uses the Resume field, which contains parsed resume text, not the uploaded resume file itself.
How to Manage Sources
After you use a prompt, you can see and modify the sources Amplify used.
-
Run a prompt in Amplify Assistant or Amplify Chat.
-
Open the Sources dropdown located beneath Amplify’s response.
-
Review the data points included.
-
Most prompts include certain sources by default.
-
-
Toggle sources on or off to fine tune the output.
-
Select Apply to regenerate the response using your updated source selection.
When to Adjust Sources
Adjusting sources can help improve the quality and focus of Amplify's output. Consider updating them when:
-
Content includes irrelevant information
Turn off unnecessary sources.
-
Content is missing key details
Add relevant sources to enrich the response.
-
Creating client-facing content
Exclude internal notes or other internal only context.
-
Content is too long or detailed
Reduce the number of sources.
-
Content is too short or lacks depth
Add more sources.
