Set Up WhatsApp in Bullhorn Messaging

Before anyone in your organization can send or receive WhatsApp messages, an administrator must connect Bullhorn Messaging to a Meta business portfolio. Meta business portfolios contain your Meta Business Accounts and serve as the starting point for WhatsApp registration. This process links your WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) to the phone number that will send and receive WhatsApp messages.

Prerequisites

  • You must be logged in to a non-messaging admin account in Bullhorn Messaging. This account configures the Meta business connection.
  • You must have a messaging account available. This account provides the phone number used for WhatsApp chats.
  • You must have access to a Meta business portfolio. This is a required dependency for WhatsApp registration. Your Meta business portfolio and its associated Business Accounts must exist before registration can complete. If your organization does not yet have a Meta business portfolio, you can create one during the in-app registration flow, though setting this up in advance makes the process faster and surfaces existing accounts in a dropdown for easy selection. For help creating a Meta business portfolio, refer to Meta's Business Help Center.

Active Bullhorn Messaging customers typically have both account types (non-messaging admin and messaging account) configured by default. If you are missing an account type or encounter a provisioning issue, contact Bullhorn Support.

Steps

  1. Log in to your non-messaging admin account in Bullhorn Messaging.
  2. Select Settings from the top navigation.
  3. Under Organization Settings, select Brand.
  4. Select WhatsApp Business Account (WABA).
  5. Enter your Business display name. This is the name contacts will see when they receive a WhatsApp message from your organization.
  6. From the "What account will be used for WhatsApp chats?" dropdown, select the messaging account that will send and receive WhatsApp messages.
  7. Select either your existing phone number or enter an external number to use for WhatsApp.
  8. Select Start Connection.

After selecting Start Connection, Meta opens a registration window. The registration screens are standard Meta Business screens. Bullhorn Messaging applies its own branding to the in-app portions of the flow. Complete the following steps in the Meta window:

  1. Agree to Meta's terms and conditions to connect your TextUs Portfolio and Twilio, Inc. Select Continue.
  2. Select the Meta business portfolio to use, or create a new one.
  3. Select the WhatsApp Business Account to use, or create a new one.
  4. Add the WhatsApp phone number that will send and receive messages. This should match the number you selected on the Bullhorn Messaging side.
  5. Complete two-step verification for the phone number if prompted.
  6. Review the permissions Bullhorn Messaging is requesting and select Confirm.

Your account is connected. WhatsApp is now enabled for the selected messaging account. Note that Meta performs a registration verification after you complete this flow. Timing varies, but the Meta registration window will confirm when verification is complete.
