Using Component Fields in Talent Platform

When building forms in Bullhorn Talent Platform, efficiency and consistency are key. That’s where component fields come in. These predefined field groups simplify form creation by reusing commonly used fieldsets across your workflows.

What Are Component Fields?

Component fields are predefined sets of fields tied to specific sections of Talent Platform, such as:

  • Work History

  • Education

  • Professional References

  • Multi-Account Pay Settings

  • Tax Exemptions

Instead of manually recreating each individual field, you can insert a component field that automatically includes all relevant form inputs for that section.

How to Add a Component Field

  1. Navigate to Form ManagerClosed and begin creating or editing a form.

  2. When adding a new field, select the Component Field type.

  3. A drop-down will appear where you can select from available components (e.g., Work History, Education, etc.).

  4. Select the desired component and click Create.

  5. The full set of fields associated with that component will now be available on your form.

Key Use Cases

Here’s how different components can streamline form creation:

Work History

This component typically includes fields like job title, company, start/end dates, pay rate, and supervisor information. These are commonly collected during onboarding or application processes and write back to the candidate profile in the ATS.

Education & Professional References

These components are designed to gather relevant background information such as school name, degree, graduation date, or reference names and contact details. Each set is tailored for its respective data group.

Multi-Account Pay Settings

Used for forms collecting direct deposit or pay card preferences. This component generally includes fields like account and routing numbers, bank name, and allocation type (percentage or net pay). It can also integrate with the candidate’s tax tab.

Tax Exemptions

This component captures whether the candidate is claiming exemption and may offer a set of predefined exemption reasons based on that selection.

Each component field includes a full set of related fields and not all are listed here. These descriptions highlight the most common examples to give you a sense of what’s included.

Why Use Component Fields?

  • Save time: Avoid rebuilding common field groups from scratch.

  • Improve accuracy: Use fields that are already mapped correctly in the system.

  • Ensure consistency: Maintain standardized data capture across candidates and forms.

  • Reduce errors: Predefined logic minimizes configuration mistakes.

After inserting a component field, you can still adjust placement and visibility within the form layout to match your process needs.
