Updates to Resume/CV Parsing in Bullhorn ATS
We’re upgrading the core parsing technology in Bullhorn ATS to improve the accuracy, completeness, and readability of candidate data. The new parser incorporates Textkernel technology alongside the existing parsing framework to improve document handling, skills extraction, and support for non-English resumes.
These enhancements will be rolled out to all Bullhorn ATS customers throughout Q1 and Q2 of 2026. You will be notified in advance of the upgrade.
With these improvements, your database will capture cleaner, richer, and more searchable information from resumes and CVs, helping you identify and surface the right candidates more quickly.
If you use Bullhorn Talent Platform, this will similarly improve the quality of any resumes parsed by candidates within Talent Platform, and from there into the Bullhorn ATS.
What’s Changing?
Our updated parsing technology improves how information is extracted from candidate documents and added to Bullhorn. Here’s what you can expect:
-
Improved parsing accuracy: The parser now delivers higher overall accuracy when processing both English and non-English resumes and CVs, resulting in more complete and reliable candidate records.
-
More skills parsed: Up to 40% more skills are now identified and captured from resumes, giving you a more comprehensive view of each candidate’s capabilities.
-
Improved resume preview: Resume previews now display much closer to the original document layout, making them easier to read and review directly within Bullhorn.
-
Image-to-text capabilities: The parser can now extract text from scanned documents and image-based resumes that previously required manual entry.
-
Support for column-based layouts: Resume designs with multiple columns are parsed more accurately, improving how information is extracted and mapped to candidate fields.
-
Expanded language support: The parser now supports more languages than before, including Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Hebrew, and Turkish, alongside improved parsing accuracy across existing supported languages.
-
Continuous Improvements: The parsing engine will continue to receive ongoing enhancements over time, delivering improvements automatically without requiring any action from your team.

FAQ
Does this update apply to all parsing methods — including the drag-and-drop parser, automatic resume parsing, and parsing via REST API?
Yes. Because this is an upgrade to Bullhorn's underlying parsing technology, it applies to all parsing methods. Regardless of how a candidate record is parsed, whether via drag-and-drop, automatic parsing, REST API, or parsed by candidates via Talent Platform, the new parser will be used.
Will this update affect my existing workflows?
No. This is a backend improvement to the parsing engine. Your current workflows, automations, and integrations will continue to work as they do today.
Do I need to do anything to enable the new parser?
No action is required. The update will be rolled out to all Bullhorn ATS customers. You will be notified in advance of the upgrade.
Will existing candidate records be updated automatically?
No. The new parsing improvements apply to resumes and CVs parsed after the update. Existing records are not automatically reprocessed.
