I-9 Section 1 Correction - Candidate Experience

There are no alerts sent to the candidate to inform them of the correction. Any communication informing the candidate of the required correction or specifically what the error is must be handled by the recruiter outside of Bullhorn Onboarding.

Completing a Correction

When a correction is initiated, the I-9Closed Form I-9 to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment in the United States. correction will be displayed in the candidate portal as an incomplete task. To complete the correction, the candidate must take the following steps:

  1. Click on the action button to open Section 1 for the correction.
  2. Scroll through the Preliminary Info page and select Next.
    • Section 1 will display the data from the most recently completed Section 1.
  3. Complete the necessary fields and select Finish and Sign.
    • All fields must pass the standard validations that occur when Section 1 is completed. (e.g., fields with asterisks are required, the date of birth must be in the past, etc.)
    • Once the Section 1 correction is signed, it is considered complete.

The changes will be reflected in the ApplicantClosed (or Candidate or Talent) Customer talent - the person applying or hired for the job Audit Trail and the I-9 Audit Trail. The audit trails do not reflect the specific fields that were changed but will indicate all values before and after the signing.

Specific field(s) that require correction are not identified.

  • If the I-9 does not have a completed Section 2 yet, then all fields can be changed by the candidate.
  • If the I-9 already has a completed Section 2, then the ‘Employee Attestation’ fields are not editable because the attestation information from Section 1 can impact whether Section 2 was completed correctly.
