Enabling Bullhorn for Email (with Outlook)

Enable the Bullhorn for Email Gadget to manage email, candidates, tasks, and notes directly from Outlook without leaving your inbox. The gadget works in Outlook desktop, Outlook Web App (OWA), and on iPad and iPhone.

Requirements: Microsoft Office 365 or Exchange 2013 or later, and email tracking must already be enabled.

Before You Begin

Email Tracking is Required

The gadget only works with emails tracked after setup. To enable email tracking first, follow the steps in either:

User Requirements

  • Users need an active Outlook inbox connected to their Bullhorn primary email address.

  • If your company uses Microsoft Exchange on Windows, users need Admin access on their computers for the gadget to load in Outlook. See Microsoft's admin documentation for details.

Browser Support

Bullhorn for Email supports Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge. (Internet Explorer is not supported.)

Set Up the Gadget in Outlook

Once email tracking is enabled, follow these steps to deploy the Bullhorn for Email Gadget.

Step 1: Configure undeliverable report settings

  1. Log into the Microsoft Purview Portal.

  2. Go to Settings > Solution settings > Data Lifecycle Management > Exchange (legacy).

  3. In the Send undeliverable journal reports to field, enter the email address of a valid user account (group addresses aren't accepted).

  4. Click Save.

  2. Click New rule.

  3. Name the rule "Bullhorn Tracking".

  4. For Type of Message to Journal, select Everyone and All Messages to track all emails for all users.

    • If you want to track emails for only some users, you'll need to create a distribution group first. (Groups require ongoing moderation when users are added or removed.)

  5. Finish configuring the rule and click Save.

Step 3: Deploy the gadget

  1. Log into the Exchange Admin Center.

  2. Click Settings > Services & add-ins in the left menu.

  3. Click Add an add-in.

  4. Select Add an add-in from the Office Store.

  5. Search for "Bullhorn" and click Add next to Bullhorn for Email.

  6. Choose which users should have access to the gadget.

  7. Click Deploy now.

  8. Follow the remaining prompts and click Close.

The gadget is now deployed. Users can access it immediately in their Outlook clients and on mobile devices.

Next Steps

After deployment, users can start using the gadget. See Using the Bullhorn for Email Gadget in Outlook for how to create candidates, add tasks and notes, and manage email from within Outlook.

Optional: Configure Link Behavior

By default, links opened from the gadget in Outlook Web App (OWA) already open in Chrome. If you're using Outlook desktop and want links to open in Chrome instead of your default browser, contact Bullhorn Support to enable this setting for your organization.
