Updating the List of File Types
Learn how to update the file types available when uploading a file to a record.
Bullhorn uses two system settings for file types — one for Company records, and one for every other record type.
Updating File Types
-
Go to Menu > Admin > System Settings and search for the setting for your record type:
-
clientCorporationFileTypeList: Company records
-
fileTypeList: All other records
-
-
Update the values as needed.
-
Separate each value with a comma and no spaces — for example: Resume,Formatted Resume,Reference Check,Other
-
-
Click Save.
-
Log out and back in to see your changes.
Notes:
-
clientCorporationFileTypeList is limited to 100 characters; fileTypeList is limited to 50 characters. Neither can contain special characters.
-
Changing file types doesn't affect existing files. If you remove or rename a file type, files already using it keep the old value until you manually update them.
FAQ
What happens if I remove a file type that's already used on existing files?
The file and its type are retained, but you won't be able to select that type for new files until you add it back to the list.
Will renaming a file type update it on existing files?
No. Changing a file type's name doesn't retroactively update the type already saved on existing files.
