Adding a Field to Select Existing Users or Records
You can use picker fields to let users select an existing record in Bullhorn, such as a user, candidate, contact, company, or job. These fields are perfect when you need to connect one record to another without manually typing information.

Common Use Cases
Recruitment teams often use picker fields for things like:

Assigning secondary contacts or hiring managers to a job or placement.

Linking a candidate to a referral source, recruiter, or internal owner without relying on free-text entry.
How to Add a Picker Field

From the Bullhorn Menu, select Admin > Field Mappings.

S-Release: Go to Tools > Field Mappings.

Expand the entity where you want to add the field.

In the Field column, type "customText" and press Enter.

Select an unused customText field from the list.

Picker fields must be created using an available customText field.

In the pop-up window, complete the field settings:

Display The label users will see inside Bullhorn.
Edit type
Choose the Picker type that matches the record you want users to select from:

Picker:Text:Business Sector – Select from existing Business Sectors/Industries

Picker:Text:Candidate – Select from existing Candidates

Picker:Text:Category – Select from existing Categories

Picker:Text:Certification – Select from existing Certifications

Picker:Text:Client – Select from existing Client Contacts

Picker:Text:Client Corporation – Select from existing Companies

Picker:Text:Housing Complex – Select from existing Housing Complexes

Picker:Text:Housing Complex Unit – Select from existing Housing Complex Units

Picker:Text:Internal – Select from existing internal users

Picker:Text:Job Posting – Select from existing Jobs

Picker:Text:People – Select from existing users, Candidates, or Contacts

Picker:Text:Skills – Select from existing Skills

Picker:Text:Specialty – Select from existing Specialties
Required Selecting this option will make the field mandatory when saving the record.
Hidden Selecting this option will hide the field from the record layout.
Allow Multiple Values Allows users to choose more than one record.
Some field types do not support multiple values.
Sort Order
Enter the number that determines where this field appears on the Edit screen.
Sort orders must be unique.
Leave spacing between fields (for example, 130, 135) so you can easily add more fields in between them later.
Value List
Leave blank. Picker fields automatically pull values from the selected record type.
Display List
Leave blank. Picker fields automatically pull display values from the selected record type.
Default Value Leave blank unless you know the exact display value you want to set as the default.
Description
Optional; A short explanation that appears under the field to help users understand its purpose.
Hint Optional; helper text that appears inside the field in grey.
