Creating a CSV File for Data Import
Create a CSV file for custom importing using the Bullhorn Custom Import Template in the Downloads section below.
Use the following as a checklist to be sure your file will import successfully.
- Make sure the file is saved as a comma separated values aka .csv
- Check that the first person listed in the table contains data for every column.
- If one column is missing data, Bullhorn will remove that column and not import the information in it for any person in the file.
- Remove columns for data you don’t need or columns that are blank.
- Blank columns lead to processing errors when importing data.
- Make sure fields that contain numbers with leading zeros are not formatted as Numeric fields, such as Zip Codes, else the leading zero is not retained.
- Make sure the column values you are importing are listed as values in Bullhorn.
- For example, if the status of a candidate you are importing is "inactive," this status must also be used in the Status field in Bullhorn.
- Make sure the skill values are separated by only a comma in the field.
- For example: Business Objects,PACE,Bloomberg
- You are not trying to import data to a hidden field.
- Make sure all contacts are associated with a company, else the company's contact will be listed as TBD when you import the data.
