Understanding Adjustment Codes

Adjustment codes are used to track time, breaks, bonuses, expenses, and other items in the Bullhorn Time & Expense Time Management Console (TMC) and Web Time Entry (WTE). The Adjustment Codes menu displays active codes in blue and disabled codes in red. Adjustment codes are sorted by the following types: Hours Codes, Dollar Codes, and Expense Codes.

By default, Bullhorn Time & Expense adds "WORKED" and "BREAK" adjustment codes to your account. Other adjustment codes can be added as needed.

The following information provides additional context about Adjustment Codes in Bullhorn Time & Expense and how they relate to Earn Codes in Bullhorn One.

Adjustment Code Types

BTE Adjustment Codes are sorted into three types: Hours, Dollars, and Expenses. These different types help to indicate what type of work happened during a work week. For additional information, see Adjustment Code Types

Terminology: Adjustment Codes vs. Earn Codes

Earn Codes are only applicable to Bullhorn One Customers. Bullhorn Time & Expense Standalone Clients only use Adjustment Codes.

Adjustment Codes and Earn Codes both refer to the same functional purpose: a code that identifies a type of earning or expense on a timesheet. However, each of these are tied to and managed in different places.

  • Bullhorn Time & Expense: In BTE, these are called Adjustment Codes. They are configured in the BTE Time Management Console (TMC) and cover hours, dollars, and expenses.

  • Bullhorn One: In BH1, these are called Earn Codes. They are defined in Bullhorn ATS and tied to Placement Rate Cards before being uploaded into BTE for processing. This means that the codes available for timesheets come directly from what's available on the Placement Rate Card.
