Understanding the Placement Commissions Tab

This article explains what the Commissions tab on a placement record shows and how it's calculated.

About the Commissions Tab

The Commissions tab on a placement record shows information to help you determine your company's profit for that placement. These calculations include the burden percentage associated with the placement's employee type (for example, W2 or 1099). For more on what burden rates are and how they're calculated, see Understanding Burden Rates.

The Commissions tab is only visible to users with a user type that has the Edit Commissions entitlement. Users set to view-only will see a card instead.

Contract/Temp vs. Permanent Placements

For contract and temp placements, commissions are affected by preset values for Burden Rate, Worker's Comp %, and Candidate Referral Sources (if applicable).

Burden rates don't apply to permanent positions, so none of the burden-related calculations display on the Commissions tab if the placement has an employment type of Permanent. For permanent placements, the Commissions section (specifically the Split field) is what matters most, since it shows who's involved in the placement and how much of the fee each person will receive.

For the full breakdown of every field and calculation on the Commissions tab, see Placement Commissions Calculations.

Customizing the Commissions Tab

You can customize some aspects of the Commissions tab, and Bullhorn Support can customize others for you. See Customizing the Commissions Tab for details.
