Understanding the Placement Commissions Tab
The Commissions tab on the Placement record provides information to help you determine your company's profit for that particular placement. When calculating these numbers, Bullhorn includes the burden percentage associated with the employee type (e.g., W2, 1099). At a high level, burden rates are essentially the extra costs, per hour, involved in paying a candidate. You determine these burden percentages; Bullhorn Support sets and modifies them in the application for you.
Understanding Commission Tab Calculations for Contract/Temp Positions
Placement commissions work with specific calculations and can be affected by preset values for your Burden Rate, Worker’s Comp %, and Candidate Referral Sources (if applicable).
Burden rates do not apply to permanent positions, therefore, none of the burden-related calculations display on the Commissions tab if the placement has an employment type of Permanent. For permanent employment types, the Commissions sections (i.e. the Split field) are going to be what’s important, as they display the people involved and the how much of the fee each will receive.
- Please view How are placement commissions calculated? for more information on how the exact calculations work.
- Want to know how to modify internal commissions attributes? Check out Customizing the Commissions Tab.
The Commissions tab is only visible to users who have a user type with the edit commissions entitlement. Users that are set to view only will see a card instead.
